"A" is for Ability

I didn't have a compass at home and I was anxious to get started on this project. So I attempted this with a ruler, much to my chagrin.

Probably one of the most fun aspects of this project was giving myself a circle or square restriction for each piece. Because I was doing a mandala theme or radial design, it was important that each surface was either a circle or a square.

Thrift shopping was key in finding unique and interesting items to modify. The restrictions also challenged me in creative ways that guided my artistic investigations.

AI was just emerging as I was starting this project. I felt strongly about maintaining the integrity of my artwork and book publishing process by not utlizing any outside help or sources. This gave me pride and OH SO MUCH frustration! Haha. Stubborn...I am!

Ultimately, I chose to only use AI for one of my pieces.

Ability was easily one of my least favorite works, and I wanted to elevate it in some way. Ironically, I needed to improve my "ability" for this piece. I thought it was fitting that I sought outside help. Similarly, our God-given gifts are only optimized when seeking guidance from our Creator.
